A Commissioner Who Gets Things Done for District 5
Athens is full of people who work hard and care deeply about this community. What we do not have is a local government that matches that same level of focus and follow-through. Too many programs start strong and end without results. That has to change.

We do not need to fix our character. Athens has heart, pride, and resilience. What we need to fix is our brand. A few mishandled crises have made people think Athens is something it is not. A few wrong steps have caused us to fall short on projects that mattered. The courthouse project stalled. We lost money for the North Avenue infrastructure work. We still do not have the homeless services program off the ground.
I am prepared to deal with emergencies, to manage crisis, and to fight for the people I represent. District 5 deserves a commissioner who can stay calm under pressure, lead when it counts, and protect Athens' values.
Local Control Matters More Than Ever
The federal government has shown over and over that it cannot effectively address the issues that shape daily life for Athenians. That is why local control is essential. The problems that matter most to us are local. They will only be solved when we take ownership of them here at home.
Athens can prove that local government still works. Accountability, transparency, and follow-through are not outdated ideas. They are what leadership should look like.
To keep control where it belongs, we need the right kind of leadership. We have had some great leaders and we have had some not so great ones. What we need now is the right voice and the right hands on the wheel.
Rewarding Responsibility and Protecting Affordability
We can start with housing. Athens should create targeted local tax credits for owners of moderately priced housing, based on clear, market-driven data. These credits should go to people who do the right thing for their neighborhoods and their tenants.
That means:
Homeowners who keep housing affordable and stable
Landlords who make improvements that help tenants, like lowering energy costs, improving safety, and creating healthier homes
Bond backed construction projects for developers willing to build quality homes that are accessible to hard-working Athenians
This approach rewards responsibility, encourages investment, and helps people stay in the neighborhoods they love.
Leadership That Listens, Acts, and Delivers
Athens can compete again. We can be safer, more accessible, and more affordable for the people who make this city special.
I bring experience, discipline, and the ability to make decisions when it matters. When a crisis hits or a project starts to fall apart, I do not freeze and I do not pass the problem along.
I find solutions and I follow through.
District 5 deserves leadership that shows up, takes responsibility, and delivers results people can actually see. I am ready to do that work.
